LeSean McCoy, Kiko Alonso flip teams

Breaking News out of ESPN; Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy will be traded to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for their linebacker Kiko Alonso. Sources say that Eagles head coach Chip Kelly was not happy with the contract the LeSean McCoy currently had, and by trading him, will free up more cap space. Chip Kelly was reluctant to devote almost $12 million dollars in cap space to McCoy after he did not live up to the expectations this past season. I think this trade is a win win for both teams. Eagles and Chip Kelly no longer have to worry about McCoy taking up the cap space in Philadelphia, where as Buffalo is getting rid of Alonso, who they did not want to pay the money, and in exchange are receiver a high caliber running back. It will definitely be interesting to see how things turn out for both players come the start of the 2015 season in August.

  1. I was shocked to see that the eagles traded McCoy. I really enjoyed reading this article and learning about how this trade opened up cap space and was maybe the best thing for both teams. I respect McCoy very much and i feel as though he is still an elite running back. But also i feel that many different back can be successful in Chip Kelly's system.

  2. I agree it is a win win trade. The Eagles improve there defense with a young stud linebacker in Kiko Alonso and McCoy will be leading that ground and pound offense Rex Ryan will employ.

  3. I think this was a great trade since the Eagles were able to replace Mccoy with Murray. I think the Eagles defense has improved, but the offensive may struggle still.

  4. Being an Eagles fan this move shocked and saddened me at first, but as I read into it and learned about the cap space being freed up I was a lot happier with it. The Eagles were able to replace McCoy with an even better running back who better fits what Chip Kelly looks for in a running back. They were also able to acquire a young stud linebacker in Alonso who is still in his rookie contract and will make less than $1 million this year. There was definitely an overhaul in Philadelphia this off-season but I would have to say this was the most shocking move.
